"Bolivia + 4° C"

The Bolivian Mountain Institute has taken up the idea of a Four Degree World and started the project "Bolivia + 4° C", exploring possible futures for Bolivia in a frighteningly warmer world. The main objective of the project "Bolivia Four Degrees" is to initiate debate and reflection among key actors of national society about socio-economic and political-institutional scenarios in a world were global mean temperatures will rise 4 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.

The Global Glacial Lake Partnership

Accelerated melting of glaciers due to global warming is a world wide phenomenon. Glacier retreat increases the risk of climate hazards, such as glacier lake overflows, known as GLOFs, the management of which is one of the new challenges posed by climate change in high mountain environments. The Bolivian Mountain Institute forms part of the Global Glacial Lake Partnership (GGLP) that was formally established at the joint TMI*-ICIMOD** Adaptation Partnership Workshop in Kathmandu in September 2011.
